Bob McChesney
Bob McChesney is an internationally recognized trombone soloist, renowned for his harmonic mastery, emotional delivery, and lightning-fast technique. As a solo artist, Mcchesney has released two acclaimed CDs: an album of songs composed by the legendary entertainer, Steve Allen, called "No Laughing Matter- The Bob Mcchesney Quartet plays the Music of Steve Allen", and "Chez Sez' an album of re-imagined standards and McChesney's own compositions with jazz organist, Larry Goldings. In 2022, Bob released an album of standards, and an album of hymns, with his new jazz quartet, featuring Vinnie Coliauta, Bill Cunliffe, and Kevin Axt.
Bob is as equally comfortable performing classical repertoire as he is improvising jazz. A prominent figure in the Los Angeles and Nashville recording studios, Bob has been featured on several Grammy-winning CDs, and has scored hundreds of television shows and motion pictures. He also holds the singular honor of having performed the virtuosic cornet piece,
"The Carnival of Venice"with The Idaho Falls Symphony. In addition to his own recordings, Bob has produced and performed on four highly acclaimed CDs for his wife, singer/violinist Calabria Foti. In 2022, the couple will release their first record together, an album of Christmas and Holiday music.

Passionate about music education, in 1992, Bob authored a treatise on his tonguing technique entitled, "Doodle Studies and Etudes". He has lectured extensively on the topic of the 'doodle tongue' technique and its application to jazz improvisation, and has contributed articles to the International Trombone Association Journal which have been translated into Spanish, Italian and Dutch. He has since authored and published several more method books including "Jazz Etudes and Duets"for all instruments, and most recently, a work for bass trombone and tuba, called "Harmonic Dexterity".
