Jamey Simmons is an arranger, composer, trumpeter, and educator. Jamey Simmons grew up in Wisconsin and knew early on that music was his unique gift. He earned his Bachelors of Music at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, and studied under Robert Baca. He earned his Masters of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Media at the Easter School of Music where he studied under composer and arranger Fred Sturm. Simmons is currently the Director of Jazz Studies at Middle Tennessee State University where he teaches courses in jazz and directs Jazz Ensemble I.">

The Boro Red Hot Jazz Majors

The Boro Red Hot Jazz Majors represent a core of talented students from Middle Tennessee State University. Playing a mixture of bebop, funky jazz, blues, and jazz standards, these students are led by trumpeter and Director of Jazz Studies at MTSU, Jamey Simmons.

Members of the group include: Jamey Simmons - trumpet, Blaise Hearn - trumpet, Michael Luttrell - trombone, Zach Tyler - saxaphone, Jordan Morack - saxophone, Riley Trauscht - saxophone, Kaleah Wooten - vocals, Jake Latham - guitar, Noah Huseman - piano, Baily Johnstone - bass, and Liam Hickey - drums.
