The Jazz Alliance

The Jazz Alliance is a 19-member big band jazz ensemble based out of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Founded in 2008, The Jazz Alliance is made up of businessmen, teachers, doctors, and other professionals, as well as professional musicians from Nashville, Mt. Juliet, and surrounding communities who enjoy performing big band jazz music.

Under the direction of Joe Thordsen and Lisa Northcutt, The Jazz Alliance performs at events, dances, concerts, and festivals in Middle Tennessee, including the Wilson County Fair, Centennial Park Big Band Dances, Watertown Music Festival, opening for Shakespeare in the Park, and the Summerfest Music Series in Mt. Juliet.

The Jazz Alliance has classic big band instrumentation which includes five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, guitar, bass, piano, drums, and male and female vocalists. Their music spans from the 1930's to the 1970's and beyond. We feature an eclectic repertory which includes big band swing, bebop, Latin (including bossa nova, mambo, rumba, and others), contemporary jazz, standards, as well as some rock 'n roll, fusion, funk, and blues.
